The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to take place in Pakistan after they were awarded the hosting rights for the tournament. Despite this decision, the schedule for the event has not been finalized, leading to speculation about the location of the tournament. The Indian team has already declined to participate in Pakistan, prompting the ICC to explore the possibility of hosting the tournament on a hybrid model. A meeting was held by the ICC on 29 November to discuss the logistics of this new format. However, some members from Pakistan raised objections to the proposed hybrid model, adding further uncertainty to the situation. As of now, the location and format of the Champions Trophy 2025 remain up in the air.

If the news is to be believed, now the PCB is ready for the hybrid model but has put some such conditions in front of the ICC, which the ICC may accept or not. It remains to be seen. The PCB wants the final match of this tournament to be held in Lahore. It should be kept as a backup. If the Indian team does not reach the final, then the final of this tournament should be held in Lahore itself.

PCB also said that if India organizes any ICC tournament in future, then that tournament should also be on the hybrid model. Pakistan will not play its matches in India. PCB has clearly said that when Pakistan cannot come to India and play, then the Pakistan team will also not go to India and play.

This competition is expected to be organized from 19 February to 9 March. India has not played cricket in Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The Champions Trophy is returning to the ICC calendar for the first time since 2017. Pakistan won the ICC Champions Trophy title in 2017. On the other hand, the Indian team has not won the Champions Trophy since 2013.

Even after the ICC’s persuasion, the PCB did not agree in the meeting. ICC members are trying to convince the PCB that the Champions Trophy will not be fun without a match between India and Pakistan. The biggest thing is that if there is no match between the two countries, then it may have to face big losses. However, from the news coming today, it seems that the tournament will be held on a hybrid model.
